DAY 1 OF PROVERBIAL WOMAN

“An excellent woman who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not harm, all the days of her life” -Proverbs 31:10-12 ESV

Proverbs 31 is also known as ”An alphabet of womanly excellence”. Basically this beautiful poem starts each verse with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet leading many to believe it is signifying that the woman’s character ranges the whole of excellence.

In the first verse we are asked a question, and if we are being honest, outside of the Lord there is not a single perfect wife to be found. Only through Christ Jesus are our sins covered and our imperfections erased. Does that mean that we won’t sin anymore? NO! But what it does mean is when we do our hearts will be pricked and we will be more apt to do the things the Lord has commanded…repent and ask for forgiveness when we are in the wrong, forgive others, love your enemy, etc.

It goes on to say that the heart of her husband trusts her and she does him good all the days of her life. Here we see that her husband trusts her wisdom! She takes his needs into consideration when making a decision. To me this also means she has an open communication with him. She doesn’t try to hide things from him. Instead she is wisely forthright and honest in all areas. There are two things I hate hearing from other women/wives “Don’t tell your husband/why would you tell him that? Why do you talk to you husband so much and tell him everything?” It honestly breaks my heart to hear that come out of their mouths. I want my man to know that i trust him enough to that i am not going to try and hide things from him. Plus trust goes both ways and if you can’t trust him in the little things how can he in turn trust you with the big?🤔

One thing we need to remember though as we go through this chapter is that just like every other commendable character trait it can only be achieved through Christ and thankfully no matter what you have done in the past, are doing now, and might do in the future it is possible. We are human and thus doomed to fall. It’s how we rise though that matters. Do we allow it to become our excuse for continuing the said offense or do we let God use it to mold us into a more perfect form?

So take heart daughter in the molding process for no one is going to come out looking the same. The master potter has a unique design for each of our lives!
