Finger Steaks and Steak Fries

One of the easiest meals to make and convince my carnivorous family to eat is finger steaks! When Thad and I were dating i went back to Wyoming to work for my grandparents for a few months on their ranch. One of my favorite meals that my Grandma Mary made was her homemade finger steaks. Thad flew back to visit me once during my time there, to purpose and ask me to stop running off all over the country…what can i say it got him to purpose, and i asked grandma to make the, for him. He was hooked after that and once we were married he asked me to make them a lot with steak fries.

Over the last 6 years i have evolved the recipe to fit our family but the basics are still the same!!

Finger steak Recipe:

Round roast or your choice of cut of meat

I cut the round roast into similar sized strips for frying! I have found round roast to make the best finger steaks.

Cornmeal

Slap your mama seasoning

Seasoning salt

Pour all of your ingredients until your heart says stop…at least that’s what i do! Mix your cornmeal, slap your mama, and seasoning salt into either a bowl or a gallon zip lock bag. My grandma taught me with a bag and i personally still prefer it!

In a frying pan start heating up bacon grease, avocado oil, or your choice of oil.

Throw your strips in the bowl/bag and coat them with your cornmeal mix. Once the frying pan is heated place your strips in it and cook them to your level of done!

Steak fry Recipe:

5 potatoes peeled

I cut the potatoes in to similar strips or use a fry cutter to make my fries

Mix in a bowl avocado oil or your choice of oil, slap your mama seasoning (or seasoning salt), and paprika. Once it is mixed throw your fries in and coat them well.

Now the best way i have found to cook them is to use a bon cook sheet but before i did that i just poured everything out onto a cookie sheet with sides and made sure they were spread out.

Place your sheet in the oven at 400 degrees and cook for about 20 minutes or to your level of done!

For a less spicy version:

Potatoes peeled and cut

Avocado oil

Salt

Same steps as above!

Dipping sauce:

Favorite Fry sauce

Favorite hot sauce (valentine any day for me)

Slap your mama seasoning

Mix and dip!

I will warn you this is addicting so make at your own risk!
